Stand by Me… around the world

April 29th, 2009

I’m hardly keeping tabs on popular music these days… because it’s more popular than it’s music. I’m sorry, but I can’t get my head around this pop-icon-contest-winner-singer-trash culture of music that these music industry bastards is trying throw on us. Everything is about fucking money. It’s getting more and more about marketing, selling, glamor and numbers, than it’s about music. What the fuck? Numbers are for nerds… that’s not music.

I can go on and on, because it pisses me off to no end. But that’s not the point. Because there are still some people who do it for love of music… not for fame, big money or stupid music videos with gang of girls in bikinis. These guys never made it to the big scene and probably never will… but they still do what they do best, they play music. These, street musicians like few other things helped me today to keep my faith in music, in today’s world.

Just came across this amazing video, on Vimeo (via Gizmodo) and I was really touched. These days we all talk about collaboration and convergence and communication… but THIS is synergy, this is symphony. Watch it, feel it and I’m sure you’ll love it. I think this is probably the best cover of Ben E. King’s song, after John Lennon.

Like Jesus Diaz of Gizmodo rightly said…

If this video doesn’t bring a tear to your eyes and makes you smile for the rest of the day, you are a cold hearted bastard. Watch it from beginning to end—you won’t regret it.

Thank you, to everyone involved in this video for making my day.
